Baking with Great Grandma

I have always enjoyed Al's grandma. She's easy to visit with, it's fun to listen to her stories, amazing to imagine her life having 10 kids and living on the farm, spunky, strong, kind, sweet, a reader, generous, funny....the list goes on. Emily, Carter, and Casey are blessed to have a Great Grandma Marie.

Her birthday is coming up this Easter. She will be 85! Her 10 kids and grandkids have planned a big shindig for the weekend! Part of the festivities included the grandkids and great grandkids getting together with her and baking cookies that will then be used as treats for the Open House on her birthday. So, we get a memory and treats are made for the party!!

Somehow, I think we get the better end of the deal.

(Carter spent the first part of the time lining up M&Ms on great grandma's table, until it was time to EAT the dough, of course!)

We made two dozen chocolate chip cookies together (Great Grandma's recipe that we all love) and we probably should have made more. We came right out to her house after school and the kids were apparently hungry, eating cookie dough by the handfuls at one point. But we laughed and snacked and talked about life and memories and made a good one in the process to save for a rainy day.

Have you hugged your grandma today??

Ok - I was wondering how long it would take someone to mention the aprons. It is fun to see them enjoying them....Grandma Lucille, maker of aprons for the generations.
