Our new house is all about color. The house we live in now started out completely off white in color because I couldn't decide anything. Not so this home!!
This is the laundry room and I am standing in the mud room which is also the same robin's egg blue color!! LOVE IT!! It says "Oh!! Come do laundry and smile!!"
Here is Emily's room; we let her choose her own colors, kind of a dark turquoise and purple. And her windowsill!! She wanted one so badly and finally, Jerald put it in for her!!
The downstairs bathroom: lime green. Also, chosen by Emily and Carter since they will be using it the most.
Carter's John Deere room and propellor ceiling fan!! Cool Cool!!
A view out Carter's window....
A lovely lady at our church showed Emily and me how to weave with our palm branches and this is what we created!
Carter's propeller fan...
Funky blue, green and orange sconces in our movie theater room!! Can't wait to watch a movie in here!
My red front door and then the colors for the dining room, living room and kitchen. Go ISU!!
My Panther bedroom and ceiling fan! All for Momcat!
Isn't Casey's outer space fan awesome!! And his orangelicious and blueberry blue walls!! He picked all by himself!!
This is Al's office. The green is wainscoting and there will be a stained chair rail on top to separate the colors. Kind of John Deere but not true colors...Emily thinks the green looks like a field of grass...
See the glow above my cupboards???LOVE IT!!! OOOOHH and my pendant lights above my island!! LOVE LOVE LOVE my new kitchen!!!
This is where there will be a little deck at our front door. For now, it is the VIP lounge where the kids mix "soup". Entertainment for hours...
I am sooo excited for our new house!! We are waiting on flooring and countertops which by the way will be granite!! AWESOME!!!!
Now, just for the packing....Want to help??

Our first tree...
Yes that picture was a digger and a mover. We moved our first tree to our new house. A lovely hard maple moved from the middle of one of Lucille's flower gardens. It's right out a big dining room window so it'll be pretty in the fall to look at. FUN! We moved more last night. I'll have to get a pic of my new yard up soon!!
And look!! I have red walls and kitchen cupboards!!!

Updates in no particular order
Mud. Squishy oozy black mud was everywhere I turned last week. Our new house in particular was a mudhole! We've got frozen ground and snow again, but the mud was fun for a while. A little glimmer of hope in this Iowa winter. Spring is coming it whispered.
Dry wall. The carpenters got dry wall up in the entire house and the garage last week! I tell you these guys are awesome! This pic in the garage was just cool because the light was shining in through the window so prettily.
Cardboard and rosen paper now covers the floor in preparation for the taping and mudding to come. Of course, we ordered the doors and trim this week so the staining must start, too!! It all looks soo close, but in reality I think there is a lot of work left to do. I can't wait to see how great it's all going to look, though!
Oh yeah, my Valentine bought me this really awesome purple, poufy, soft, shiny coat for Valentine's day just because I texted him that I "needed" it!! Isn't he great?!!

On a side note...
Progress is being made on our house. We've been on hold a bit; the electrician has been busy elsewhere and the heater guy has been fixing a broken down furnace and being sick, so our carpenters haven't had much to do. Then the siding came in and the heater guy showed up as did the electrician, so we are moving again.

Happiness is....
Happiness is....
Getting nice big windows in your new home....
Playing in the snow...
Decorating cake balls for Christmas parties...
Green frosting....
Having enough chocolate leftover to eat by the spoonful! And having a mom that lets you!!!
Lastly,
Happiness is being the one who doesn't have strep throat!!! Poor Casey is home with strep throat right now. Maybe we have another tonsilectomy in our future???

Non Sequitor
Warning: The following items are non sequitor!!
Last Sunday Al rolled his ankle....
This is the job to have. He is putting rafters on my house as we speak!
Max, the poopy puppy, who is currently eating a hole in my garage: out of boredom.
Finally, my new home with rafters! It's a beautiful thing!

Windows
Have I ever told you that I am not a very visual person? It drove Al crazy trying to talk about building a house and design things and I can't always "get it" until I "see it"! Case in point: Windows. Our designer and Al assured me I would like the windows, but on paper they just seemed small.
We finally have walls up and voila! I can "see" the windows and they are huge and awesome!!! Love it!!
This one is a view out the window above my sink of that willow tree the kids love! Maybe I'll actually like washing dishes with a view like this?? Doubt it...
These two are in our living room and are as wide as a sliding glass door: each! (they just don't go all the way to the floor) AWESOME!! I love light!
Here's just one window pointing out the front of the house and the driveway!
We get rafters this week!! Woo Hoo!!! I can't wait!

On Building a House....
Is building your own home on your "bucket list?" It seems like it should be. To build your own house, to design every little detail, to make it flow just exactly the way your life does instead of making a house fit your style, to make it everything you ever wanted....What's not to want? Funny thing about building houses....
Al says, "Building your own house doesn't give you everything you've ever wanted. I've had to compromise more on this house already, than I have in 14 years of marriage!!"
Still....
Rooms are taking shape along with dreams of what they will look like when it's all done...
Life is kinda like building a house. You can make it everything you ever wanted...it just takes a little compromise along the way.
