Funny Things Kids Say

Do you know what this is??

Technically speaking, it is a shell from a dreaded walnut left on my steps by a hungry squirrel.

According to Casey, this is "wind poop." He says it everyday and avoids it like it really is poop!

Last night when we got home from school and errands, Emily said, she had told Casey that the wind was a monster and it had "pooped" on our step and he'd better hurry and get inside before something else happened!!

Motherhood

My husband who has to hear all of my worries and stresses everyday and live with me...sent me this poem and I cried...

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth every day.

Before I was a Mom
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys
or forgot the words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on
Pooped on
Spit on
Chewed on
Peed on
Or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom
I had complete control of my mind
My thoughts
My body
And I slept all night and got plenty of rest.

Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child
So that doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
When I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew what love at first sight really meant.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth
The joy
The love
The heartache
The wonderment.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much
Before I was a Mom

Thanks Al!

Dumping on the go...

Proof that my husband really can multitask. Maybe, better than I can.....*smile*

She had a good idea and she went with it.

Emily invented "the All Purpose" tray and took it to Invention Convention today. The idea for the tray came from trying to help Casey do things the last 2 months. She had a good idea and Al and I helped her refine and build it. Then she had a display board and log book to do. Working right up until this morning before school, we finished just under the wire. This afternoon she had to present to judges and then talk about it to any and all students and parents that came in to see. It was a hit and now she is headed to Regionals in December with fingers crossed that she will go on to State Finals next March!

Congrats Ems! I am very proud of you for coming up with a winner of an idea and working hard on it to see it finished!!!

Who knows? Maybe she'll be an inventor some day...

About Makes Me Want to Cry

This little boy of mine about makes me want to cry! I am so proud of him! I stayed home from work with him last Wednesday and he started walking!! I would leave the room to go and get something, turn around and there he was!! It has only been two weeks yesterday since he got his cast off and he is already walking, and climbing on things and generally getting into stuff!! Knowing all that he has gone through, it's just awesome to see him being so resilient and getting everything back. He doesn't walk perfectly and his muscles are pretty tired by the end of the day, but I am sure it's soon to come. Along with running!!!

Now, if we could just convince him that the potty is a good thing....

P.S. I think about blogging all the time and really want to, but it's been really hard lately. Be patient with me and keep checking I am still here!!!

No Matter What

No Matter what is going on,
No Matter how sad I am,
No Matter how mad I am,
No Matter how worried I am,
No Matter how distracted I am,
No Matter What...

This guy of mine can always make me laugh. In this world of busyness and stress and worries, laughter is my best medicine.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat,
Smell my feet,
Give me something good to eat!
If you don't,
I don't care,
I'll pull down your underwear!!
