Boy Scout Intermission

Saturday, we went to a Boy Scout day camp about a 1/2 hour away. Siblings were invited so all of us went along. We got to ride pedal go carts, shoot bb guns, do crafts, play kickball, try our hands at bows and arrows and swim!! It was a very busy fun day!! The staff there was exceptional! We will definitely go again!! Carter's fav was archery, Ems was bb guns and Casey I think just liked it all!!!

One of the boys in Carter's scout troop has a sister just a little older than Casey and they both go to the same day care and have lots of fun playing together. Their family was at the day camp with us. While the big kids played kick ball I sat with Casey and his friend while they played at the little park there. The favorite thing was collecting rocks!
It was a beautiful day and a good time was had by all. Hope your Saturday was as nice as ours was.

pinewood derby

Last Friday night, our local boy scouts had their Pinewood Derby Race. Al, Emily, and I had come down with strep throat the week before, but the cars got made and worked on anyway! We couldn't miss the big race! Siblings are allowed to race, too, so Al and Emily made a car and Casey took last year's sibling car after adding a few decals. We had all the races and then ate hot dogs and chips. A fun time was had by all!

This is the sibling picture. Case actually won these races with his car that was Emily's last year. Her car had a bad first race and then couldn't win. Her wheels needed spinning! After we practiced some when it was all over it beat Casey's car! Go figure!
Here is Carter anxiously watching the races. He really wanted to win! When we walked in, he saw that there were going to be trophies for the winners and that was it! He was going to win!
. Carter's car is winning in this race. It is Yellow with John Deere Green polka dots. He's decided that every year will be a John Deere car variation.

Carter ended up taking second place! Yea Carter! We played and raced some more when it was all over and decided that we need to spin the wheels more and he'll win first for sure next time!

And the Winner is....

Carter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, Carter's cub scout pack had their Pinewood Derby! We made 2 cars; Carter made one and Emily and Casey entered one together in the siblings' race.

Carter won every. single. race. he participated in!!! Yea Carter!!!

His pack doesn't do an all around champion, just his tigers raced and the wolves raced each other, etc. But I'm sure Carter would have won that too!! His John Deere green and yellow car was awesome!!!!

Casey and Emily won all of their races too!!!

Here Al is adding some last minute graphite to make the wheels turn faster.

Here's the line up. Emily and Casey painted theirs orange with a pink racing stripe and Carter's obviously is the John Deere Green with the yellow racing stripe.

This race when Carter's car was in the lane next to the yellow fire truck was the closest race there was and he is still a good car length ahead!!!

Carter came over to us after a few races and said, "All I'm doing is winning."

Emily and Casey's car shot ahead of all the siblings' cars too!

This picture was taken the next day, but we NEEDED a picture of Al and the kids because he worked hard helping them! I neglected to make them pose on that afternoon, so I remedied it Monday night.

Checking the wheels even though we won all of our races...

A great day and activity put on by the Boy Scouts!! We had fun working on the cars and racing them. We had fun letting Emily and Casey participate and we had fun watching!!!

Winter Camp Out

Last Saturday night, Al and Carter went on a Winter Camp Out with the Boy Scouts! I sent my camera along (my little one) and it was fun seeing the trip through Carter's eyes.

This first picture is "Just a Cool Picture Mom."

This next one is a big open space where they all played and got muddy!!!!!!
Here is a Bald Eagle nest they hike out to see. Very Cool...I love spotting Eagles.
And here is the cabin where they stayed. It was called "Robin Hood."

My boys (minus Casey of course; too soon it will be all of them) came home dirty, smiling and tired!! I think Boy Scouts are great and so do my boys!!!
