'Twas the Night Before Fair, and all through the house,
every 4-H'er was hurrying, to finish projects, quick as a mouse.
The entry tags were laid out with care,
In hopes that the paperwork fairy soon would be there.
No one was nestled all snug in their bed,
for everyone was scurrying to finish projects like they said.
And moma was looking for supplies, and I in my chair,
was organizing and quizzing all 4-H'ers before fair.
Now Emily, now Carter, and Casey,
On to the judging at the Butler County Fair.
On to the rides, on to the exhibits, on to the fun.
Walk through the barns and see some shows out in the sun.
Visit the band boosters booth, cotton candy, mini donuts, galore!
Eat until you can't eat one thing more!
Check out your ribbons, red, blue, white...
Is the State Fair in your future this night?
Celebrate your accomplishments,
Feel good about all you've done,
Enjoy the Fair, fellow 4-H'ers, and all the fun
When it's all over, heave a sight of relief, and start dreaming ideas for the next one!
